The Jordanian media is in a state of denial. Its commentators celebrate what is happening in Egypt and Tunisia while conveniently sidestepping the main issue: The grievances that have led the Tunisians and Egyptians to their popular uprisings (mismanagement, corruption, poverty and economic hardships), have exact parallels in Jordan.

Rather than commenting on Egypt and Tunisia like they are in a separate planet, we in Jordan should focus on tackling our own problems and moving forward with our own serious reform. Such reforms should not be confused with the governmental knee jerk reactions of lowering sugar and rice prices and not raising fuel prices!
